Attendance.

October 27th, 2011

Alright, listen up. We’ve been at the point where we’re needing to tighten up on attendance for a while, and so we’re establishing a few things to encourage you to show up when you say you’re going to, as well as kick you in the crotch if you then don’t.

First thing is; if you’re wanting to come raid new content, you’re expected to help out with at least one old-content raid a week while we’re running them. We’ve always gone for a “if you help the guild, we’ll help you” mentality, and honestly only showing up when we’re going to progress is very self-serving and terrible. We have people that are still gearing up and need help to get them there so we have more regular people for current content. If you do not show up to a prior-tier raid, we simply will not take you to a current content raid (either that same week, or the following, depending on when the older raid is scheduled.) If you’re unable to attend due to scheduling issues, or some other legitimate reason, we will be understanding.

Second thing; please for the love of god use the calendar. We put events up on there for a reason, to tell who is going to show up and who isn’t. For the longest time people have basically just ignored it, or a few people use it and then don’t show. If you’re consistently not signing up on the calendar but expect to raid, it will come to the point where we will not take you. If you’re consistently signing up on the calendar and then not showing up, we will stop taking you. We really need to have a clue who is going to show prior to the event starting, so we know whether we’re going to have to patch with pugs or not.

Third thing; we expect you to stay throughout the entire raid. This means 7pm through 11pm EST. If you’re leaving early for no legitimate reason, we will reflect this on your position in the loot table. If you’re going to have to leave early, please inform one of the officers before hand so we can decide whether we’ll still take you, or whether it would be better to take someone else who can stay the entire time. I will never detriment someone for actually having a legitimate reason to not attend raid, such as work scheduling or an emergency, but I expect a little bit of dedication otherwise. It is your responsibility to tell someone if one of those legitimate issues is the case.

So please, just be a little considerate to the fact that we are trying to push new content and require people to show up regularly on time to do that.

Loot and you.

October 27th, 2011

Alright, folks, listen up. We’ve talked it over basically, while we don’t want to micro-manage everything to the extent of a DKP system, but we do feel that we need something to encourage attendance and reward those who show up on time and prepared.

This is where the “Suicide Kings” loot system comes into play. Suicide Kings is basically a system designed to fairly and transparently distribute loot across the raid.

The system works by everyone who actively raids “rolling in”, and the number you roll determines your place in the list 100 rolls get top spot, 0 at the bottom. New guild members will be invited to roll and will just take their place in the list based on their number.

Then, when a piece of loot drops, it is prioritized to the top person on the list that can use it. A mage will never get to roll on a plate chest, for instance, so it would skip to the first warrior/paladin/death-knights.

If you accept a piece of loot, your name is moved to the bottom of the list. This then moves everyone else up and they get priority on loot before it comes back to the winner again. It ensures that no one is forever missing out on upgrades simply because of bad rolls in the middle of a raid, and it also means that loot is distributed faster, because we simply have to ask whether X player wants it, if not, does Y, etc.

You can pass on a piece of loot and not move anywhere on the list. If the top person on the list does not want an upgrade, they can pass on it to the next eligible person below them. If that person accepts it, they move to the bottom, and the top person remains where they were.

Your main spec is what you’re raiding as at the time. We’re not going with “what you raid as most” because that’s unfair to people who switch back and forth as needed to fill different rolls. Off spec rolls are going to be free, if everyone passes on something as main spec, you can take a piece for off spec without it affecting your position in the queue. This will just be done on a regular roll-off basis.

We are also going to be moving people up for coming to raids on time, prepared (repaired, with food, etc), and staying throughout. If you sign up for a calendar event and you show up on time, you’ll move up a spot. If everyone shows up on time (which is as it should be), everyone basically stays where they are.

This applies to all content, we’re not splitting it between new content and old content. The theory being that if you’re in an old content raid and something isn’t worth it you should pass to someone that could actually use it. This keeps your position in the list, while not penalizing you for coming to old content.

I’ll be putting up an actual page shortly that will list everyone, all the gear that they recently picked up, what caused them to move, etc.

Lexi has an event up on the calendar before each raid next week so we can in-game to roll and determine your place. We’ll just have you group up, do a /roll, and we’ll slap you into the list as you need to be. Suicide Kings will begin the week after next, when we have (hopefully) everyone who is raiding placed in the list.

October 24th, 2011

It’s been a while, but the plugin I use for the guild roster finally got an update. It’s now back online and you can see your pretty little ugly faces in there.
